The We Out Here exhibition presents several overlapping themes, such as exploitation, migration, colonialism and the wider issues of racism and racial injustice.

Mullings’ work in this show asks how it is that the people of countries in Africa such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar or oil-rich Nigeria which have some of the world’s largest deposits of mineral wealth, remain some of the poorest in the world?

How can art be used to challenge such racial injustice? Drawing on the work in the show and that of three contemporary artists - Samuel Baloji, Yinka Shonibare and Kara Walker - we will look at art as protest and art as empowerment. Can art be a force for change?

You will have the opportunity to create your own art work of protest and empowerment.

After a fantastic year of meeting folks, selling beautiful things and many, many random chats. We are closing the doors of our weekend shop. It's been a hard decision as we have loved amplifying so many amazing local artists and giving so many of you the chance to access their work and products. But change is-a-coming!!
As an experimental dreaming space we need to keep dreaming and so this year we are mixing it up to offer the space to more people in more ways! But please keep in touch with our wonderful local creatives! Click HERE to find out how and buy from them directly
