The workshop will be focused on sharing somatic practices and the use of these as tools for joy & resistance while navigating oppressive structures & systems of white body supremacy.

What is Somatics?

Somatics is a series of movement practices that support the resetting of the nervous system & release of physical and emotional tension. These practices will be combined with meditative activities to encourage & increase non-judgemental present-moment awareness, which supports the increase of choice & agency in stressful situations.

The first part of the session will invite participants into relative stillness to engage in grounding & landing practices.

The second part of the workshop will invite gentle movements to encourage expression & release of any physical or emotional tensions.

The third part of the workshop will invite some restorative movement & stillness as we head towards rest.

This workshop is intended to give participants a taster of somatics as a practice of resistance & some takeaway tools for daily living.

The workshop welcomes anyone interested in somatics, meditative practices & increasing general well-being. All activities are invitations & offered at different levels to support accessibility.
