Artists Connect is an opportunity to build and grow your creative community. Each month, an artist will present a part of their work or practice. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and then a fun social where you can make new connections, finally meet that person you have been following on socials, find others who are mixing up their practice, emerging onto the scene, or perhaps just working outside of the mainstream flow.

The room will be full of other curious creative folk. It's also your chance to connect. We will be inviting and reaching out to artists, opportunity makers, art commissioners and gallery curators. Discover local emerging or evolving artists from Hastings to Eastbourne as they share their work, current practice, or the story of what has brought them to this point!

Betty is reflecting what I love about my appearance. My hair, lips, skin colour. How I use clothing as a form of personal expression, my silent communication.

Betty boop is often viewed in isolation from the scat sounds of Baby Ester and the black culture that inspired her creation.I wanted to highlight how perception is informed by selective knowledge.

Charlotte Stainton Artist Bio

Charlotte is a multidisciplinary artist and experimentalist who treats reality as an ongoing art project, bending mediums and distorting perspectives. Her work draws from emotion, environment, belief, and the curious fragments of knowledge she collects day to day. Often quietly contemplative in person, she lets her bold, intuitive art speak for itself.

Her creations explore the dialogue between self, society, and the unseen forces that shape perception. As a queer creator and emerging art therapist, she merges personal expression with art’s healing potential.

With a first-class degree in Fashion and Textiles and a background in design, Charlotte’s journey blends storytelling, reinvention, and the hidden narratives of objects. She has exhibited at venues including New Designers, Black Joy at Hastings Museum, and Spitalfields Old Truman Brewery. Now based in Hastings, she continues to evolve — her art moving like waves, connecting the personal and universal.
